FUN FACTS
- Can't get a ring off ?? Try using Windex! It is slippery and works much better than lotion..plus it cleans it too!
- Are my pearls real or fake?? Run the ridges of your teeth lightly over the pearl. This is called the "tooth test"! If the pearl feels gritty it is real..if smooth..so sorry it is fake!
- Are opals bad luck if your Birthday is not in October? The only time they are bad luck is if you don't own one of these magnificent gems. This rumor was started because of a novel in England in the 1800's
- How often do I need to update my appraisal? It is recommended to update every 5-7 years since the market for gold and gems changes. Gold is so high now that most appraisals are undervalued....so get in and have us appraise it !
- When do I need to string my beads or pearls? Before they break and become a mess all over your floor.. please check to see if they are knotted..pearls should be...if they are moving between the knots then the time is right! Remember we can redesign your beads and pearls if they are outdated.
- What is the color for fall fashion 2010? Turquoise The colors this fall are muted grays, beige and browns...so colored gemstones and beads will perk up all your outfits! Try a fabulous strand of bright red coral or soft pink rose quartz !
- Can I swim in my jewelry? If you swim on a daily basis the water will not hurt your gems...BUT...the chlorine will be terrible for the metal...it will attack the gold, silver or platinum and over time it will look like Swiss cheese and loose all luster. By the way..Mercury will also attack the metal (but hopefully not many of you come in contact with this!)
- What was the original engagement stone? Sapphire !!!! Have a look at Princess Diana's engagement ring..a fabulous blue sapphire surrounded by diamonds!
